Many apologies for the lack of posts recently.
Due to family illness, our scheduled October opening has been put on hold.
We plan now to open early 2013.
As work gets back underway shortly we'll be sure to keep you updated!!
Thank you,

Drawings
We thought it would be nice to share with you the original drawing of the house that was done for our logo, drawn by Roger, a retired architect, now our trained and qualified forest schools instructor. A man of many talents it would seem.
Light
We can't wait for the boarding to be removed from the windows so we can see each room filled with glorious day light, hopefully that will be very soon!
Painting
The ground floor painting is almost complete, just a few little areas left, yet it seems we're still a long way off fully finishing. Today the first floor prep began on the walls, ready for the first coat tomorrow. The sheer size of the space in real life is certainly very daunting!
This first floor will be where most of the children's work will take place once open. Each room will be zoned into different craft media spaces, with plenty of wall space for work to be displayed once complete it's sure to be a creative hub of activity.

Entrance and Reception Tiles
Last week the entrance hall and reception room tiles were finally laid, and what a transformation.
Can't wait for you all to see it :)
Work in Progress
Every inch of the interior is getting a fresh and much needed coat of paint. It's only now, however that we're approaching the half way mark with painting that we've realised the magnitude of this task.
The building is HUGE, seeing the transformation from day to day however is making it all very exciting.
Below are some work in progress shots. Right, back to painting!!

Welcome!!
Welcome to the Holme Head House Community Atelier blog!! Here you will be able to keep up to date with all the activities that go on within the Atelier, opening October 2012. We are extremely excited to open our doors to you and your children in this exciting new venture, unlike anything the city of Carlisle has previously seen.
So what does the Atelier have to offer?
Holme Head House is primarily a space for your children's creative imaginations to run riot.
Here you will be able to take part in a wide range of Art and Crafts, from painting, clay, woodwork, sewing and needlework, model making to name but a few.
A huge part of the Atelier will include being innovative with the use of reclaimed materials, found media and what many people would usually consider 'junk'. The use of such objects will help the children show a greater respect for the world around them and the need for a more sustainable environment.
Forest Schools and nature walks by the river and the surrounding countryside will be a regular feature, helping children appreciate their natural environment. Their collected 'treasures' can then be used creatively in order to enhance their learning experience.
Children's group cookery classes will also take place within the Atelier, in which the children will cook and then eat their culinary masterpieces.
As well as all this Holme Head House has a wonderful function room for hire, for all your meeting and conference needs.
Please keep checking back for regular updates and much much more information and pictures very soon.
